Oil-Drop Jianzhan油滴盏

Oil-Drop Jianzhan, also known as oil-spot teacup, is one of the most classic types of traditional Chinese Jian ware. Originating from the Song Dynasty in Fujian, it is famous for its magical natural glaze effects.

Under high-temperature firing, iron elements in the glaze form countless round, shimmering spots like floating oil drops on water, presenting silver, blue, golden or iridescent colors. No two oil-drop Jianzhans are exactly the same due to natural kiln transformation.

It is widely used for brewing pu'er tea, oolong tea and black tea, keeping the tea aroma and temperature longer. Today, it is not only a daily tea vessel but also a popular collection and craft gift.
